Compare Coronado’s public and private school options, including grade levels, GreatSchools ratings and programs. Learn which details to confirm before making a housing or enrollment decision.

Coronado Schools

Coronado, California, offers public and private educational options in a compact coastal community. Families can choose from two public elementary schools, one public middle school, one public high school, a district preschool program and two established faith-based private schools.

The ratings below are current as of November 2026 and come from GreatSchools. Because ratings can change as new information becomes available, they should be considered a starting point—not a complete measure of a school or the right fit for an individual student.

Coronado’s Public Schools

The Coronado Unified School District serves approximately 2,800 students, from preschool through adult transition programs. Its four principal K–12 campuses are Coronado Village Elementary, Silver Strand Elementary, Coronado Middle School and Coronado High School. The district also operates preschool programs. Preschool and Early-Learning Options

Coronado Unified operates preschool programs associated with Village and Silver Strand elementary schools. Additional private preschool and childcare programs are available throughout Coronado, although availability, eligibility requirements and enrollment schedules vary.

How to Research Coronado Schools

A numerical score offers a convenient overview, but it cannot capture every aspect of a school. Families may also want to consider:

  • Academic programs and student-support services

  • Class sizes and teaching approach

  • Arts, athletics and extracurricular activities

  • Special education and advanced-learning resources

  • Transportation and daily schedules

  • School culture and the individual student’s needs

The district’s annual School Accountability Report Cards provide enrollment, staffing, academic and campus information for each public school. California’s official School Dashboard is another useful resource for reviewing state-reported performance measures.

School boundaries, transfer policies, programs and ratings can change. Before making a housing or enrollment decision, families should confirm current information directly with Coronado Unified School District or the individual private school.
